life sure does change....

Seeing as I have not posted anything since June, there is so much to tell! I donated 10inches of my hair to Locks of Love... and now I have a much cooler hair cut for the summer... the 20minutes every morning to dry my hair was getting a little old. I never quite reached my goal, being a mermaid, but my hair was the longest it has ever been.... before
after ...
Obviously, a difference in attitude, but none the less, its a pretty good comparison of how much I cut off. Anyway, now on to the really big news.

Anthony and I have landed new jobs at Mission Hospital in Asheville, NC. After a year of applying for random jobs, Anthony landed an interview and then, I landed an interview and thats all she wrote. We plan to move in the middle of October, after we have finished all of our already made plans - including 2 weekends in Gainesville, an OAR concert with Zach and Jill and friends, a fishing trip in the Outer Banks and a visit from the Texas girls, oh and Anthony's dad's 60th birthday party... wow, we have a lot of stuff coming up. Well, I know this a lot to swallow and not a lot of details, so stay tuned for some updates.

Its become fabulous again...

After a week of a miserable attitude due to some disappointments at work, I have returned to bliss... but only after attacking some wooden pallets. Anthony and I were building shelves in the garage, and we decided to recycle wood (a.k.a. keep these shelves cheap), so we found some pallets to use. I was assigned the job of detaching the ever stubborn pieces of wood from the supports. I was unaware of the challenge when I started this project... you must use a crowbar to pry the boards up enough to get at the nails but these are no regular nails... the tops pull off giving you nothing to pull them out with thus leading to tilting the hammer from side to side, slowly pulling the nail out. Anyway, after about an hour and a half, I had 6 perfectly usable planks of wood and a much improved attitude... I found my smile... who knew it only took banging on some wood with a hammer and crowbar to make me feel better?

Next task of the week, Anthony has been wanting to feed Parker leftovers... whatever, I'm game to try it. We had some sweet potato and corn leftover one day, so I mixed it into her food, and the result, our once very neat eater... turned into this....
Come to find out, she likes sweet potato, but not a huge fan of corn... what a mess! Our experiment will continue.

Last night, we went to see a minor league baseball game with some friends of mine from work. We had a great night! It started with some minor bar hopping before the game, and arriving at the game about 2nd inning (I think, wasn't really paying attention). Lots of laughs and tons of great pictures. It is wonderful to hang out with friends away from work, get to know their significant other that we all hear so much about... let me add, it is great to have such great friends at work... that doesn't always happen.

I think the best discovery was that the stadium does sell better beer than Bud and Bud Light. It was quite a finding. The night ended, of course, with some wonderful Waffle House - 2 eggs scrambled with cheese, hashbrowns scattered, smothered, peppered... my usual. It is pretty sad when you have a usual at Waffle House. Luckily for us, the closest one to our house it 20minutes away... or I should say luckily for our bodies.

I am looking forward to taking yet another trip this coming weekend... back to Houston. I guess I should unpack from last weekend! Ooops, I'd like to say that I've been too busy to unpack, but that would be a lie... just too lazy. Gotta get to it.

Memorial Day Blitz

We had yet another Memorial Day boat bash!  Thanks to Anthony's dad and step-dad, we were set with two great boats and then Chuck was able to get the Whaler going, and eventually caught up. With a couple of years experience, we finally had enough rafts to hang out on, and one of the dogs even found its comfort zone.

Nathan and Ben came into town to help us celebrate.  Caroline was also in town, so she joined in the fun!... doesn't look like anybody was having a horrible time.
Somehow, Anthony managed a smile (no teeth of course), but none the less, a great picture of us.  Mary and Charlie are posing in the background too!

These were the three boats we managed to use for our weekend festivities... they lined up quite nicely after the third attempt of the day.
Finally, I'd like you to meet, Atticus; quite possibly the laziest Labrador Retriever you've ever seen... his mom will defend him and say "well he did swim a lot too!"  He remained in this position, tied to the boat, floating for almost 2 hours!!!

We had a great time, and finished the evening at Creekside, where Ben serenaded us with a great version of "Sweet Home Alabama" to nothing more then a set of bongo drums!  For those of you who were not there, you sure missed a wonderful treat!  Surprisingly enough, dinner was not on the house.

Great weekend...

It was another great weekend. Kerry and Ben were in town, so we did lots of hangin' out, drinking good beer, eating good food, and having late nights with entertaining conversations. Kerry captured some great moments of Friday night... and after reviewing the pictures, I've decided I need to start a section of my blog that only includes all of the crazy people in St Augustine (not including ourselves) ... here is a picture of the latest and greatest... they are a part of club called, "Three Sheets to the Wind"... wonder what they do when they get together?

We spent most of Sunday moving things around our house. We have two bedrooms, and we decided to move our stuff into the back bedroom... just to really mess with our friends of course. Although, I think it has confused me more... seeing as, I had all of my hanging clothes in the back bedroom but my dresser drawers were in the front bedroom, so as you can imagine, I spent most of my mornings walking around in circles trying to get dressed, but now everything is actually in the same room! It will take time, but I'm sure I will figure it out.

We finished our weekend out with an early mother's day dinner for Linda... a great dinner, brought to us by Gypsy Cab Co. While we were there picking up dinner, we found out that Michael Winslow will be performing at their comedy club - he's the man of 10,000 sound effects, you may also remember his stellar performances in Police Academy and the Geico commercial. Anyway, that may be the way we celebrate our birthdays together... we hear he's a great performer. That about covers the weekend...

my new favorite member of the family.

As I mentioned before, I love our ROOMBA! The first time I used it, I realized that you do have to follow it around the house to make sure that it doesn't carry around things you don't want it to... i.e. yarn, shoes/shoelaces, and dog bowls. With that in mind, I realized that I could pick up the first couple of items but the dog bowls had to stay... or else Parker would be a lot skinnier, so Anthony and I created a dog bowl holder that mounts to the wall. Most dog-owners have bought these dog bowl holders so that their dogs don't have to strain their neck to eat their food... where as, I have built a dog bowl holder so that my Roomba can vacuum underneath of the bowls without scooting them all over the house! ha ha. Check it out... it looks pretty good, Parker seems to like it just fine and the Roomba gets the job done.

Off to a great weekend, Ben P and Kerry will be in town tonight; so we're looking forward to a good night on the town, and then maybe off for a bike ride tomorrow. The weather looks like it will be very enjoyable! I'm sure there will be pictures to come. Stay tuned...

weekend as a groupie... I mean band wife

Last weekend was full of excitement... I went on tour with the band, and I became the camera-ready-wife! Go figure, but hey, I had a good time hanging out with the older generation, seeing as I don't get nearly enough of that everyday at work.

Some of my friends did join me for the Saturday night show, and they were able to make Anthony smile and even laugh on "stage." For any of you who have seen him perform, you would understand... and for those who haven't, when watching him, you would think there was the world's smallest, yet most amazing sight on the table, wall, or any other inanimate object nearest to him. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to capture those smiling moments on tape or in a picture. I did record several of their songs by video, and I tried to upload it, but now 20minutes later, I'm not waiting anymore, so you'll have to settle for some pictures for now. Just for information, they sounded great, and hopefully I'll be able to share it with you some day.

The other exciting thing in my life... believe it or not, is my new vacuum, seeing as it is a robot!!! And much to Anthony's dismay, it actually works to fight the dog hair and everything else we can't see! I love it! It does everything that I hate to do! Seeing as Anthony and I have different definitions of "clean;" I was doing the majority of the vacuuming; as a matter of fact, I think he has vacuumed once in the past 15 months we've lived in this house. But now after tonight I have to correct that because I just witnessed him vacuuming the garage!!! What do you think of that? But to give him credit, he does clean the bathrooms and take care of our food headed for the compost "pile."

I am off to work on our wedding/ honeymoon(s) scrapbook; I think I have a new addiction. With everything being online, I don't have to worry about if I have the right kind of paper, what if I mispell a word?, or "oh crap, I have to clean up this whole mess when I'm finished!" I have just about finished one from my bridal showers and bachelorette weekend... which all of the above makes me crack up laughing every time I look at it. Can't wait to share the finished projects; maybe by the time, mom picks a date for the open house in Houston... ha ha.

And I'm back.... just with a new name!

It's been a while... I got engaged and then disappeared from the blogging world. That is probably better seeing as I had a 1 track mind for a while. It was quite amazing how planning for one weekend of my life, could take up so much of my brain power. Now that it's all over, it was totally worth it because the weekend was awesome! The smiles on everybody's' faces in all of the pictures verify that point!

I know that my laugh is one that tends to cause people to turn and stare, while my friends signal that I'm too loud with the, finger over the mouth... shhhhh!!! But I made one discovery from all of the wedding pictures... I laugh with my mouth wide open! After all of these years it is a wonder as to how I haven't choked on a bug by now, but maybe the decibel rating is too high, even for the bugs!

Anthony has been traveling/ touring quite a bit with his band, Ernie Evans and the Southern Lite (www.southernlite.com). I have had a few weekends home alone, so this morning, I ventured out on my bike (12 miles round trip) for Earth Day at the St Augustine Amphitheater. It was an interesting combination of people and definitely a great place for people watching. There was one couple in particular that I couldn't pass up stealing a candid shot....

Check out the bird on the guys shoulder... that little thing could make some noise! I just didn't want you to miss the details. They were great!

Anyway. It has been a pretty great morning... went for a bike ride, ate a great fish taco at the local hole in the wall; all while totally avoiding the things I need to do around the house. Good thing there are 2 days in the weekend!

Hope all is well, and its good to be back.

Talk to you all soon.
